The Truth About Pregnancy #4 // Myth Busters Series

So this is my last post for this series, as I am no longer pregnant with Callie girl anymore! WAHH! *cue all the tears* Don't get me wrong, I am so unbelievably excited to be getting to know my baby girl, but there is something about never having her in my belly again that gets this mama a little emotional! And now it will be time to blog all things birth, newborn, and mamahood! Anyways.. I hope you guys have enjoyed this series and taken a little something from it. This last post will be all of my hodge-podge thoughts that I want to share before moving along! Enjoy! :)

I'll start with a couple of random misconceptions that I haven't addressed yet:

1) You can have coffee in the second and third trimesters. I googled a chart that says how much caffeine is in popular coffee drinks so I knew how much I could have, but at least one cup a day was totally fine!

2) Sunbathing is fine too! You just don't want to overheat your baby. So I would lay out for a half hour to an hour at time and then make sure I covered my belly or took a break in the shade before going back out so my body temperature didn't raise to high. I totally wore a bikini the whole pregnancy and all was well!

3) I didn't really get "cravings". The way I described it was I would get "in the mood" for things, just like I would before I was pregnant. Nothing my husband couldn't handle!

4) Pregnancy brain is a real thing! I have such a good memory and I found myself forgetting random things here there which was really frustrating! The notes app on my phone became my BFF.

5) You don't have many sonograms at all. I think a lot of people assume that every time you go to the doctor you get to see your baby. WRONG! I only had 3 sonograms my whole pregnancy (one each trimester). Most of the time you go to the doctor it's just to check your weight, measure your belly, check your blood pressure, and listen to the baby's heartbeat.

To wrap up this post I would love to share a couple valuable resources I used during my pregnancy!

1) So I don't recommend spending a lot of money on maternity clothes! You grow out of things so fast that it's really not worth spending a lot of money on. I bought one expensive pair of jeans for my pregnancy and everything else was either gifts, hand-me-downs, or used clothing. My favorite Facebook group for buying used things (maternity and baby ) is Mobtown Mommies. You can click directly on that link to join that page! Also, the Tot Swap that comes to the Timonium Fairgrounds every season is amazing! It is HUGE (we are talking like 50 strollers for sale at one time) and they have maternity clothes and all the baby things you could ever need for CHEAP! Both are great places to find used maternity clothing.

2) My favorite apps that I used during pregnancy were Ovia Pregnany and the My Pregnancy Today: Baby Center app for pregnancy. I loved Ovia because it gave me one little update a day about my baby's development and showed me the size of the baby's hand, as well as a comparison to a food to show me how big the baby was. It was very simple and helpful. The Baby Center app was more involved and sometimes had TOO much information (hello live uncensured birth videos), but it did have some really helpful articles on it. I used both and it was a great combination!

If you have ANY questions about anything that has to do with pregnancy, feel free to comment below or send me a message and I would LOVE to be a resource for you! I don't really have a filter so nothing is off the table ;) Also, if you missed any of the other posts, you can click on the tab on the right that says "Pregnancy Series" and see all the posts in this series!

Thank you all for tuning into this series and to all my soon-to-be preggo mamas and preggo mamas-- you are awesome and beautiful and amazing and there is no better feeling than making and raising a babe! Good luck! :)
